KMTB Mountain Bike Trails

KMTB is a set of fully marked mountain bike trails at the Barbet Country Cottages in the beautiful mountainous Eastern Free State.

There are four trails from 3.8 km – 30 km in length. The trails are technical and have lots of single track to be enjoyed.

The one portion of the trail takes riders along the Caledon river which is a beautiful experience not to be missed. These trails are suited for riders with moderate fitness levels.

Yellow Trail

(3.8km) The yellow trail, although short is our signature trail. It is mainly comprised of signal track riding which loops and winds its way through one of the most beautiful spots on the farm. Although short it is one of the most technically testing trail portions on the farm with wooden bridges, drop-offs and more. Although the trail has been built with the more experienced, challenge seeking rider in mind, this trail can be ridden by anyone who has a moderate amount of mountain biking experience

Red Trail

(10 km) The red trail takes riders on a loop which goes along the foot of Kromdraai farm’s mountain and then down to and along the Caledon River. Beautiful views of Lesotho are presented to riders on this trail which will rightly tempt you to pause that STRAVA recording and take it all in. The trail consists of both single track and dirt road and starts and finishes with riding on the mountain’s foot.

Blue Trail

(16 km) The blue route is a loop that takes riders off the farm along the dirt road. The scenery of this ride is magnificent. This route comprises mostly of dirt road with sections of tar road and awesome single-track. Not to be missed!

Black Trail

(20 km) The 20 km trail is a magnificent ride which takes riders on a whirlwind tour of the farm and surrounding area. IT incorporates tonnes of single track and gives the best, full rounded experience that our trails have to offer. Do the Red trail after the Black trail for 30 km of fun and challenge.
