LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary is a safe and natural environment, where big cats who were involved in zoos, private captivity, entertainment industries and canned hunting industries – are free to live the remainder of their lives.

Here they will not be sold and may not be bred or hunted. On this approximately 1,250 ha area, close to the city of Bethlehem in the Free State, more than 100 big cats have now found a place to call home.

Here FOUR PAWS offers rescued lions and other big cats a secure and species appropriate place to live out their lives.

Game Drives:

We invite you to take a drive around Lions Rock Big Cat Sanctuary in an open game drive vehicle and enjoy the spectacular views, abundant game and tranquil surroundings.

The farm of 1.240 ha is home to a big variety of game including:

  • 13 types of Antelop
  • Burchell’s zebra
  • Ostrich
  • And for the avid bird lover, there is over 250 species that occur on the reserve.

There are up to eight different predator species on the farm at any one time, including:

  • Bengal Tiger
  • Caracal
  • Leopard
  • Lions
  • Hyena
  • Wild Dogs
